The Story

The team are in the woodwork room building a sledge for the cross-country race. It's a large sledge that they can all sit on. They've even got safety equipment such as a compass, a map and a whistle in case they need to be rescued. With the sledge strapped to the roof of the bus they head off sure they'll win easily.

But when they arrive they find other kids have been allowed dogs to help them pull the sledge. It's too late to find a dog team now so they have to set off regardless. It starts off really well, the extra weight on the sledge helps them downhill, but with nobody steering they soon crash into a tree.

Beenie blows her whistle to be rescued, but it doesn't make a sound. However within seconds dogs arrive. It's a dog whistle. With all these dogs they soon get the sledge back in the race and successfully win!

Notes

The final frame shows the Head back at school asking if the safety equipment helped them win. Beenie says she blew her whistle and the dogs came to the rescue. It appears the dogs have come back to the school with the team! Where are the owners?!?
Six dogs are needed to pull the sledge.
