The Story

Dick has built a submarine but he's nowhere to sail it so decides to dig a pond. However, because it's going to be hard work, he decides to invent a bone finding machine to encourage Napoleon to dig the hole on his behalf. The bone finding machine is a swizz as the horn that alerts Napoleon to a bone is rigged to Dicks foot, so Napoleon ends up digging the entire pond.

However, Napoleon realises there is no bone in the hole, but because the hole is already dug, he hatches a different revenge plot. Dick walks out of the garden and eats some chips, passing another house, who (by an amazing co-incidence) has a boy dressed all smart coming out of it.

Napoleon's revenge plan goes wrong when he hits a bone on Dick's foot, causing him to throw his chips into the air, they land on the other boy's head. This boys mum, in turn, shouts at Dick and throws the chips back on his head.

The strip ends with Dick, hunting down Napoleon fuming, and Napoleon digging a new hole, all the way to Australia.

Notes

To ensure Napoleon digs the larger hole, Dick first bury's a bone and uses his machine to make Napoleon dig the bone back up again. The next hole to be dug is the pond, and to make the hole larger Dick sounds the horn louder.
